Newspapers owe zero to conspiracists.

13 Sep

The local rag in Bournemouth disappointed me by publishing a letter denying the Twin Towers were demolished by terrorist action, and claiming that the government of USA destroyed them deliberately.

Parliament in UK made a distinction twixt free speech and incitement to racial hatred. The same principle applies here.

A responsible newspaper does NOT publish material from such conspiracy theorising morons.

A responsible newspaper employs editorial staff intelligent enough to distinguish betwixt responsible and sincere opinion on the one hand, and on the other hand perverse and insane calumny.

Those who deny that Stalin murdered millions (and they exist) are loony extremists who dirty the name of Socialism.

Those who deny that Hitler murdered millions (and they exist) are rabid extremists who dirty the name of Conservatism.

Those who deny that heroic human crews from USA landed on our twin planet Selene, also know as the Moon, between 1969 and 1972, (and they exist) are feeble non-entities who dirty the name of science.

PS: The Editor answered my complaint. He agreed with me but said he had been away that day. This just shows how things crash and burn when wise heads pass on, and moronic oiks take over.

One Response to “Newspapers owe zero to conspiracists.”

I too hate those absurd “conspiracy theories” – I agree with Hubert Humphrey, who said, “The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously” – but when those using Free Speech come up with crap like the FAMOUS, TOTAL crap you mentioned above – it demonstrates that with Freedom comes RESPONSIBILITY!
